Most considered "arab" terrorists at the time. This was mostly tied to the PLO and those terrorists arms of that organization. The "spiritual" affliation was introduced much later ..mostly by OBL and company.

Calm thyselves. I support your right to be flaming racists and your right to turn a blind eye to the trappings of our own foreign policies. I don't necessarily disagree with our foreign policies. That is, "sure, we did some bad things. So?" ..but I'm not so stuck up and arrogent that I can sit in total ignorant denial of those policies and the side effects and evolutions of them ...no matter how much your inocuous lives believe that you somehow should be exempt from them.

I don't think its necessarily "Racist" to acknowledge the following. Just "real world" thinking.

In 1972, at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by:
a. Olga Corbitt
b. Sitting Bull
c. Arnold Schwarzenneger
d. Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

2. In 1979, the U.S. embassy in Iran was taken over by:
a. Lost Norwegians
b. Elvis
c. A tour bus full of 80-year-old women
d. Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

3. During the 1980s, a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by:
a. John Dillinger
b. The king of Sweden
c. The Boy Scouts

4. In 1983, the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by:
a. A pizza delivery boy
b. Pee Wee Herman

7. In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by:
a. Scooby Doo

c. The World Wrestling Federation
d. Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40

10. On September 11th, 2001, four airliners were hijacked and destroyed and thousands of people were killed by:

d. Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.”

I'm sure Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Polosi et. all would not have listed "d" in any of their answers.

Now you really don't want me to mention things like

Who slaughtered, hunted down, and destroyed the food supply for the first human inhabitants of the North America:

A. Smurfs
B. African Army Ants
C. Muslim extremist males between 17 and 40
D. White Chrstian males between the ages of 17 and 40

Who were members of the British empire that conquered most of the world via their military.

A. Muslim extremists
B. Eskimos
C. Native Americans
D. White Christians

As you can see the name "Christian" has a little different meaning when viewed this way. What in the world makes you think that "Muslim" is any different?

You "package" your assignment labels all too conveniently.

Keep in mind ...this is what a "Muslim" would ask you if you sat opposite them. You would begin making excuses like ...that was then and this is now ..type stuff. He'd still be speaking the truth ....just like you. Each POV would be just as disengenuous and slanted.

Basically a half truth. Sure they're Muslims. Sure Christains did those things.

What's left out is the fact that we see no spiritual affiliation with the actions of "white Christians" ...

...maybe they, like YOU, DO.

I hate to make the murder of millions sound nice but i will be frank on this one.

I am waiting for the day for Pakistan and North Korea to do something stupid..

for i will not shed a tear when India retaliates and wipes Pakistan and there breeding grounds for virulent Islam and anti-westernism of the map.

India would take a serious a hit but survive due to the massive population.

If Pakistan did something stupid, it would literally disappear of the map.

However, id suspect Pakistan would attempt to take out the major cities and industrial centers setting them back years of development.

However when talking about North Korea, Pakistan and Nukes we have two chief wild cards.

China and the United States that is. If Inida and Pakistan went to nuclear war, would china intervene? Or would they stay out of it knowing that India at the last could take Beijing out as a bare minumum detternt?

With Korea we all know in a matter of minutes North korea could be turned into a parking lot complete with a McDonalds quite fast by the United States. The "cost" would be the likely loss of Seoul unfortunately.

Then again we have the China card, the may repeat history or not give a care too much.

The do give a care in the sense that any major US involvement in Asia inches China closer to a surprise take down of Taiwan. The Chinese calculate that the United States will not risk the loss of west coast cities in exchange for Taipei.

Iran is more interesting. The people are disgusted with the goverment but all disent is quashed. Islam and Arabic influence ruined such a rich civilation full of history and culture.

Iran is full of hott air. In a heart beat the Isrealis would not hesitate to blow them off the map. The United States would do the same.

One poster said it is only a matter of time before some unleashes the genie.

Hopefully, like in WWII the right countries will prevail and the evil ones will perish.

The more and more I read the more and more I am beginning to code Islam as the new "soviets."

Oh forgot couple interesting historical foot notes on Isreal and Islamic Nukes.

We all know about how Isreal took out the Iraqi reactor at Osirak in 1981....talk about brilliantly excuted and quite audacious to say the least
wink.gif

Pre-emption worked in that case study.

Two other neat occasions i heard from my contacts and mentors.

In 1986 the Isrealis planned to take out Pakistans "research" reactors. However the plan entailed refueling in India to support the mission. India was the only friendly in the region outside of Diego Garcia which would have implicated the United States.

Bad news is theat when Reagan got wind of this he forbade the Isrealis from the operation. I suspect Reagan was more concerned with the Russians in Afghanistan than the Pakis getting the Islamic bomb.

So in retrospect Reagan miscaluculated big time.

The second arguable American screw-up happened in the summer of 1998. The Indians tested a nuke...not really big news since the Chinese,French,United States had been doing that until 1996 openly.

The Paksitanis were to follow suit.

However during that August an Isreali squadron of F15-I's were stationed near Delhi ready to "disrupt" the Paki "experiment."

I call it an "arguable" screw up because either slick willy clinton forbade the Isreali's again or or Saudi friends tipped of the Pakis.

Ron Jeremy said "Islam spread like wildfire after its inception not by spreading the good word, but by the sword. Europe was almost consumed by it and the Crusades were a response to this. Jews did exist amongst Muslims thrughtout history as long as they paid a poll tax and were subserviant. If someone needed a scapegoat, guess who got it? Then they had they audacity to create their own nation which covered less than 2% of the Middle East and the Arab world goes nuts . They are 800 years behind and can only preach hate and revenge. If you feel somehow responsible for their backwards culture, well then go hard. "

Jews and others were tolerated in Moslem countries, and part of the decline of Spain can be traced back to when the Jews were ordered to leave in 1492. But, at least by then the Jewish translators had done their part in helping the Renaissance. It should also be noted that during WWII fascist Spain was ironically somewhat of a haven for Jews, while they were being turned away by England and the US. Cultures expand when they embrace objective ways of understanding the world and others, and decline when they rely upon dogma. All the major cultures have many episodes that would rather forget. People complain about Moslem extremists, the Catholic Inquisition, slavery and Jim Crow in the US, etc., but also don't seem to know that more people were burned as witches in Protestant Europe than were killed by the Catholic Inquisition.

The ISLAMIC FOUNDATION OF THE RENAISSANCE

Islam Spain and the history of technology

In the Medieval Age, the Muslims led the world in their pursuit of knowledge. Much of this knowledge was discovered by Muslim scientists while other knowledge was derived from other cultures including the Greeks, Persians, Indian, and Chinese. The Muslims synthesized, elaborated, and transmitted this knowledge to Spain; and eventually, to the entire Western world. In Western Europe at this time, most of the knowledge of the Greeks was lost. It was only through the transfer of Greek knowledge (including Aristotle's philosophy, Ptolemy's geography, Hippocrates' medicine) by Islam Spain that this information ever got to Western Europe.

Beginning in the Middle Ages, men seeking knowledge would travel to Spain to obtain Muslim science. This may be surprising since we tend to think of the Muslim world as being separated from Europe. But, there were many linkage between these two societies, one being trade and the other, more significantly education. Adelard of Bath, an Englishman in the 12th century, was the first major popularizer of Muslim science in the West. He spent a long time in Muslim Spain learning both about Greek mathematics and science as well as Muslim contributions to science. In particular he introduced Euclid and aspects of astronomy to Western Europe.

The key event for Medieval Europe came in 1085 when the great Muslim city of Toledo fell to Christian military forces. Toledo housed one of the largest libraries in the world at this time. And, this library was filled with thousands of books including Muslim translations of classic Greek philosophers. After the fall of Toledo, this city became the focus of a massive translation effort where teams of translators translated the Arabic texts into Latin. Often, this was not a one-step process. Jewish intellectuals frequently served as the translators--translating Arabic into Hebrew for themselves and then into Spanish for the Christians. But, because most of Europe spoke Latin, the works were then translated into Latin (often by priests or monks). One translator, Gerard of Cremona (1114-87) worked for forty years in Spain translating, with a team, over 70 books from Arabic originals including the works of Archimedes, Galen, Hippocrates, and Aristotle (McClellan & Dorn, 1999). In addition to Toledo, Arab work was found and translated in southern Italy and Sicily (reconquered by Norman knights in the 11th century). By 1200, Europe had recovered most of ancient science as well as appropriating several centuries of scientific, medical, and philosophical work done by Muslim scholars.

Scientists, Bush feud intensifies

More than 4,000 scientists signed a declaration condemning the Bush administration's overall science policy.

In November, President Bush gave physicist Richard Garwin a medal for his ''valuable scientific advice on important questions of national security.'' Three months later, Garwin signed a statement condemning the Bush administration for misusing, suppressing and distorting scientific advice.

So far more than 4,000 scientists, including 48 Nobel prize winners, have put their names to the declaration.

The Bush administration's foreign policy in Iraq and elsewhere has been a "disaster," and President Bush should not be re-elected, a group of former diplomats and military leaders say in a newly released statement.

A statement from the group notes its more than two dozen members include Democrats and Republicans who have "served every president since Harry S. Truman."

Ron Jeremy said "On Sunday, August 15, a 16-year-old girl in the town of Neka, northern Iran, was executed. Ateqeh Sahaleh was hanged in public on Simetry Street off Rah Ahan Street at the city center. ...The judge personally pursued Ateqeh’s death sentence, beyond all normal procedures and finally gained the approval of the Supreme Court. After her execution Rezai said her punishment was not execution but he had her executed for her “sharp tongue”."

The federal Justice Department announced last month that it would reopen its long-suppressed investigation into the 1955 murder of Emmett Till, a black 14-year-old from Chicago who was the victim of a brutal racist murder while visiting family in Money, Mississippi.

What was Till’s crime? The black teenager allegedly whistled at a white woman at a grocery store in the heart of the Deep South. What followed the savage killing was appalling: the two admitted killers were acquitted by an all-white jury after a sham trial.

http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/05/10/lynching.exhibit/

Of the 4,743 documented lynchings in the United States between 1882-1968, about three-quarters involved African-Americans. They're believed to have occurred in all but four states -- Connecticut, Massachusetts, Alaska, and Hawaii. Most of the lynchings were in the South, where Mississippi ranks first with 581 and Georgia, second with 531. The map reflects the 10 states that recorded the highest number of lynchings. Click on each state for more

Authors Tolnay and Beck list 75 recorded reasons why blacks were lynched in the years 1882-1930 including “being obnoxious, disorderly conduct, indolence, suing white man, trying to vote, vagrancy and unpopularity” (p. 47).

http://www.umwa.org/history/ludlow.shtml

The date April 20, 1914 will forever be a day of infamy for American workers. On that day, 20 innocent men, women and children were killed in the Ludlow Massacre. The coal miners in Colorado and other western states had been trying to join the UMWA for many years. They were bitterly opposed by the coal operators, led by the Colorado Fuel and Iron Company.

The Baldwin Felts Detective Agency had been brought in to suppress the Colorado miners. They brought with them an armored car mounted with a machine gun--the Death Special-- that roamed the area spraying bullets. The day of the massacre, the miners were celebrating Greek Easter. At 10:00 AM the militia ringed the camp and began firing into the tents upon a signal from the commander, Lt. Karl E. Lindenfelter. Not one of the perpetrators of the slaughter were ever punished, but scores of miners and their leaders were arrested and black-balled from the coal industry.

As distasteful as it is to read of vicious treatment for what we consider to be minor crimes, the equation changes completely when terrorists want to kill me.

You are most welcome to recite YOUR history of Islam to the terrorists, right before they shout Allah Akbar and shoot you. They don't care if you are liberal or conservative or support them or not. If you have a US passport, you are a target for extermination as surely as the Nazis killed off the folks that didn't fit their scheme. Thankfully, we had LEADERS then that didn't negotiate with Hitler and the Nazi leadership. They hunted them down and executed them. Churchill would have personally hung them all.

We need to get the terrorists first, and everything else is of lower importance. Don't make this more complicated than it is.

When the Government sanctions and authorizes a brutal execution it is different from a citizen's act against another human being.

That being said, how far have we come? Victoria Gotti, the daughter of a notorious, murdering thug, is celebrated by our society. It makes you wonder.

1sttruck,

To equate the worst injustices of the last century with state sanctioned thuggery is intellectually weak to say the least. The fact that you feel that you live in a country that shares a value system with an Islamofacsist theocracy is very sad.

Omar al-Khadr is being held under a military order issued last Nov. 13 by U.S. President George W. The war in Europe started in the fall of 1939, and we didn't get over there until the fall of 1942. The strong isolationist movement in the US, headed by the America First Committee consisting in part of lots of conservative Republicans with Lindbergh as it's spokesman, did it's share to keep the US out. US businesses were happily trading with Nazi Germany, some even after it was declared illegal to do so, as noted below.

After the seizures in late 1942 of five U.S. enterprises he managed on behalf of Nazi industrialist Fritz Thyssen, Prescott Bush, the grandfather of President George W. Bush, failed to divest himself of more than a dozen "enemy national" relationships that continued until as late as 1951, newly-discovered U.S. government documents reveal.

Furthermore, the records show that Bush and his colleagues routinely attempted to conceal their activities from government investigators.

Bush's partners in the secret web of Thyssen-controlled ventures included former New York Governor W. Averell Harriman and his younger brother, E. Roland Harriman. Their quarter-century of Nazi financial transactions, from 1924-1951, were conducted by the New York private banking firm, Brown Brothers Harriman.

The Kadr family has extensive social and terrorist ties to bin Laden and have been making a$$es of Canada for 15 years. The old man was one of Bin Laden's money men. He would go off to jihad and come back to Canada when he needed to use of medical system. He was snuffed out in a skirmish with Pakistani security forces last Oct. (good riddance). All of the sons attended al Qaeda boot cap in Afganistan. Young Omar apparently shot an American medical officer who was attemting to save one of his comrades. He should have been shot in the field, IMO. The rest of them should be kicked out of Canada. I would personally love to be wearing boot.
