1974 Toyota Celica

Not that one specifically but mine was the same color after a $100 Steve Luckey Paint job.

I bought it cheap. The previous owner had installed a later model 20R/5 speed from a HiLux. He was 99% done....don't know why he didn't just finish it. Little work and it was on the road.

Typical of High School boys, I did a boatload of work on it, spent a lot of money that I earned working at the theater on it, self taught stereo wiring with hopeless Pyramid junk, spent hours digging throught the wrecking yards, put new tires and wheels on it, and traded it - for a Mustang Turbo that died on the way home.

Then I had a car, but it was dead.

I wish I could get that old Celica back.

Those were sweet cars!! Haha I remember the Pyramid car stereo stuff! They made those equalizers that supposedly had like 500 watts per channel or something crazy like that. Those things probably squeezed out a watt or two if lucky :^P I knew a guy in high school who had four of those wired up in parallel. Sounded awesome though!!

Yep! I had the big Pyramid EQ with the multi LED display!

Head unit was a Sharp. Subwoofer was a Realistic (probably 8 ohm) powered by a Pyramid amp.

I totally destroyed the rear deck trying to mount speakers and sub in it so I had a piece of pegboard cut to fit and carpeted with some surface mount Pioneers.

I had to sneak in the MDF to woodshop to cut the pieces for the enclosure. Woodshop made me really good at making things provided that I had industrial woodworking equipment.

It was loud... can't say much about the sound quality.

I'll say this, your car stereo was WAY better than mine! I had this HUGE mid 80s era Sony jambox (had 8 inch woofers and horn tweeters, and even had separate bass and treble controls) and sat it in the back seat of my '74 Cutlass. I ran a cigarette lighter DC cord to it so I wouldn't have to keep buying the expensive 10 D size batteries it took haha!! That was my car stereo!

My first vehicle was a 2001 Ranger XL 2.5L/manual...

In retrospect, I should have kept it. It was super reliable, and a lot of fun to drive. It only had 120 HP, but would wind right up to 6K RPM and was fun to row through the gears. The base vinyl bench seat was awful and the regular cab wasn't good for trips, but I had a lot of fun driving that truck.

LOVE that pic!! Captures the moment perfectly! Corvette's most beautiful body style! Girl has beautiful smile too :^)

I had this car (not my photo) from my grandparents. It was so slooooow. It got great MPG but who cares when fuel was $1.

1979 VW Dasher wagon diesel:

I did have a ski rack on top.

86 Cavalier.. just got the AC fixed and jumped in after a long day working on a roof in 100 degree heat.. Don't remember any of it.

And this POS 88 S15 should of drove it off the cliff versus fixing it all the 5 years and only 50k!

That Cavalier looked a lot like my first one, but it was an 87 with 2 doors....

Not mine, but looks almost identical except without the rust mine had.

1966 Chevy Nova 4 door. It had a 194 six and a powerglide.

'65 Pontiac GP-Fontaine blue+black vinyl top/black bucket interor/full console/421-thm400-sometimes used the OE skirts that changed the look quite a bit.

1973 candy apple red Opel GT. Thing used so much oil it wasn't even funny. I literally added oil every week. Hey the girls loved it and I had a lot of fun times with that car. Drove it for a year and then sold for $300 less than I paid for it.
Obviously not mine but this is what it looked like.

I always loved the looks of those!

Cars I drove in high school that belonged to my parents:
84 S15 Jimmy 4x4
85 Nissan P/U base model
88 Honda Accord - their best, IMO. Drove like a dream.

My first car, got my 2nd year in college in 1990
86 Honda Accord - already had 116K and had not been treated well, was not near as nice as my mom's 88, but oh well. Needed new C/V axles and shocks right away, coolant looked like it had never been changed, thermostat was stuck. Fixed all that and put new cap, rotor, wires and plugs on, and then drove it. Went to 258K before I sold it off in 1997.

No pics sorry...1st official car was an 89 ford escort gt. Engine said high output on it but I think it was a lie. I think it topped out at about 100. Pretty reliable except a/c kept breaking so my DAd said roll down the windows. My mom got a lightly used 87 lx 5.0 mustang in 91 and it became my high school graduation present in 92. It was a hatchback but was an auto. It had 3.73 gears and flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers. Sounded awesome and could burn rubber on demand. Really surprised I never crashed it...came close several times. For some reason I thought a new Plymouth Neon 2 door with better engine would be smart in 1995. That was really poor judgment...but so was my choice of women around that time of my life.
