HTHS and flowability?

hmm just wondering since my engine (toyota 2zz-ge) calls for a 5w-30 grade oil. now i can get many oils in this grade that have varying hths from 3.1 - 4+

so it gets confusing as to when end of the scale i should look to be at.

Castrol (Oz) make the following recommendations
Edge 5W30 A3/B4 (this will be between 3.5 and 3.8 or so)
Magnatec start-up 10W30 (also an A3/B3, and will be above 3.5)
GTX Modern Engine 10W30 (A GF-4, so probably in the low 3s).

Personally, If running 6,000 miles or so, I'd chose A3/B4 in a 5W30, but a GF4 (3.2-3.4) will suit you fine.

Since it meets ACEA A5/B5, it means HT/HS is between 2.9 and 3.5 cP. That's about all you can deduct from it.

But since it is specifically the "FE" formula, I would expect HT/HS value to be towards the lower end of that range.

this was the other oil: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/pdfs/motul/8100_Eco-nergy_5W-30.pdf

Viscosity grade SAE J 300 5W-30
Density at 20°C (68°F) ASTM D1298 0.848
Viscosity at 40°C (104°F) ASTM D445 57 mm²/s
Viscosity at 100°C (212°F) ASTM D445 10 mm²/s
HTHS viscosity at 150°C (302°F) ASTM D4741 3.41 mPa.s
Viscosity index ASTM D2270 163
Pour point ASTM D97 -36°C / -33°F
Flash point ASTM D92 226°C / 439°F
Sulfated ash ASTM D874 0.98% weight
TBN ASTM D2896 10.3 mg KOH/g

flashpoint between the 2 oils seems to be over 30c difference. what does that usually mean?
both oils are ACEA A5/B5 spec.

Does the owner's manual call for any specs such as ACEA or API?
