Your numbers are all over the place. August 09 12k miles on oil 8.38 TBN. Sep 09 13k miles on oil 3.65 TBN.. 1000 miles difference. Same time of year.. Not that I know much about analysis but this just seems weird to me, if someone can enlighten me?

The aug 09 run has seen winter driving but not sept 08. Is that correct?

The 09 also has higher TBN and higher thickening compared to 08. I would have thought as TBN goes down thickening goes up.

1. yes
2. or either the oil batch was different than before, or the lab screwed up.

great observations.

What version ATM is that latest UOA....Too high on calcium, Phosphorus and ZINC. Viscosity is a 40 Grade. A TBN of 8 after 12k....Something is wrong here. They might have mixed up the samples, that looks like a Diesel oil.

That is not a current formulation, SN or SM of ATM.

i would agree. lab screwed up. i went through all samples from that area that could have gotten the same case of 10w30- thinking it might have been the oil, but nothing similar.
i did find that i got this sample through the dipstick-vacuum pump method.

Yes, the last analysis DOES seem way off, viscosity, TBN, Calcium, Zinc, PLUS there is no Moly (6)... they mixed some samples up with another oil, a 40 weight, with high Zinc and Calcium, and I think with alot less miles (hence the high TBN). Get them to retest, if they even have the samples in the right order anymore...
