Usually engineers design experiments to simplify in order to get rid of too many random variables. Thats why it may be best to find a way to directly measure engine drag (friction) alone. Flowing less fuel at any given RPM and load would demonstrate it.

that's what they tend to do.

I haven't used RP, because its way overpriced IMO. I would use group 5 Motul for that price.

If you're getting Motul in Canada for the price of RP, you had better buy it. After all, RP is regularly priced between M1 and M1 EP at Canadian Tire and Partsource. So, Motul cheaper than that is one heck of a bargain.
