I know that. But for the U.S. market for engines that used VW 503.01 is VW 502.00 replacement spec.
VW 504.00 is replacement spce for both VW 502.00 and 503.01 in the EU.

As far as I know, all gassers are now under VW 502.00 here in the U.S. VW 503.01 is withdrawn.
