Annoying photobucket issue - file names

This has been going on for over a year now.

Whenever I copy a direct link or an IMG link to one of my photos on photobucket, it adds "~original" to the end of every file name. Of course, UBB forum software then gets confused and doesn't know that it's an image link, so I have to manually remember to delete this "~original" text from the end of each link. Not a big deal, but annoyance nonetheless.

Does this happen to you, too? I can't find a way to disable this. Or is this just photobucket's way of making things difficult for the non-paying members? I'd ask photobucket, but I can't find a way to contact them.

I've basically had to stop using photobucket. Their interface has so much going on - advertisments, etc that none of my computers (including a core 2 duo ... ) are able to navigate it.

When you copy the image URL in photobucket from Direct, HTM| or IMG options, "original" gets added to the URL? I don't have that issue. I use the free version of photobucket.

Can you please post an example?

Did some more digging. This probably has to do with my upload settings... I have mine set to "Display my linked photos in their original sizes". But apparently if I unselect it, I won't be able to select it again since photobucket has removed that function...

Not really sure if I need it since bitog resizes everything to 800 pixels wide anyway, but on some other forums it might be useful.

I checked my upload otions and I don't even see an "original size" option, but only:

1024x768 (recommended)
800x600
640x480
320x240
160x120
100x75

Looks like your suspicion is correct.

Ummmm..... keeping your new picture storing website a secret?
Please, I'm dying to know what it is. I hate photobucket.

Tinypic was recommended above. But I would like another good option.

Thanks

Looks like he's using imgur.

However, imgur is not without its own issues, which I noted here:

Granted, beggars can't be choosers. All these free image hosting sites have their issues. Just gotta pick one that you can live with...

I find Google Photos (formally Picasaweb) to be pretty good. You get a real URL with a .jpg (or similar) at the end. I stay out of this new Google+ thing as much as I can, though they've integrated it across most of their services now. Still, it's super easy to use, and goes especially well if you have an Android phone and/or use other Google services such as Gmail.

Here's a hotlink of a photo of mine from Google Photos, as well as the full URL it gives. I access it by right-clicking the picture and choosing "Copy image URL" from the context menu (Chrome browser):

Finally heard back from Photobucket on this. They confirmed what I wrote above.
