I think Ford is by far the best overall domestic brand with the most consistent and well balanced lineup. Thoughts? I've always been more of a Japanese car nut, and to me Ford is really doing a good job.

perhaps, but i've been envious of what mazda has done since breaking their ties.

I don't have any complaints about my 03 Focus ZX5. However the new Focus and Fusion simply don't offer anything special to me. Pretty small interior and trunks, despite hefty outside dimensions when compared to the competition and their DCTs definitely need more R&D.

My biggest gripe is the Chinese transmission in the Mustang. Other than that, I love the car. I also love the new F-150, my buddy's is fantastic, and the ones at work are great too.

I think Ford does build some great products, but not much they build lights my fire- aside from the Ford GT, the Boss 302, and the upcoming GT 350...

I have a legitimate tough time with this one... Which of the big 3 is the best right now.. Well, they have all come a long way, with all of the 3 major brands putting out some exceptional stuff.

I can't honestly answer, I like something from each of them.

I sit on the fence on this one. I'm still trying to figure out the bail out thing.

I'm liking the F-150 with the eco-boost but not much else in their lineup knocks me over.

I am a truck and mustang guy. I drove the 2014s trucks last year when we were looking to buy. I liked the fords the best. The turbo 3.5 is awesome however they weren't interested in dealing and we were buying 4 units.
Chev was the only brand ready to cut a decent deal.
And the hemi in my experience is very durable and has gobs of power, more than enough for what I wanted.
The Ford 5.0 isn't really much of a truck engine, but rocks in the mustang.
If I was buying a car for myself tomorrow I'd be seriously considering a challenger and a mustang. Depending who gave the best deal.
The mustang handles the best of the 2,but the challenger has a visceral appeal the mustang doesn't give me.
So I agree that fords consistency is definitely something however I think all the domestics have strengths.
Chev's engines are legendary in respect to durability, even though some complain about oil use in the cylinder deactivation models I haven't seen it in real life.

They used to make the Ranger in Edison NJ and then they shut that down.

People miss the Ranger?

While Ford's CEO would not accept $1 for a year of pay, they have done the best after the bail-out the fastest.

Huh? Ford took out billions in loans BEFORE the bailout so that they wouldn't have to go bankrupt.

He said he would take $1/year for pay if Ford had to take government bailout money. They didn't, so he didn't.

I actually drove past that factory once, and while stopped at a traffic light noticed the Ranger parked on the display out front. I was in my 1985 Escort GT that was built there.

It is either Chrysler or Ford. They both deserve "most turned around company", that's for sure.

Chrysler is starting to come around with building reliable products. For a while, they made the most unreliable products on the road ... but they tried to make interesting things.

Ford completely gave up on everything but pickups and had mediocre reliability for a stint.

GM was good before, GM is good now.

Lots of made in China parts tags on the Fords that I have been looking at. A $55,000 F150 pick up with made in China tires .Really doesn't bother anybody.?
