PP / Pennzoil synthetic when first in the market?

It seems there is a known history of when Mobil first produced/sold Mobil 1 and how Castrol got a synthetic on the market. So when did Pennzoil first get a synthetic on the market? Was it always named platinum?

Actually, it was Performax....both Johnny and MolaKule (two respected board members) have commented that Performax was an awesome synthetic....

PS: After I posted I saw that steveh had linked to the thread that I referred to..

Also, Pennzoil had another syn after Performax called Pennzoil with Pennzane...I think it had a Group III basestock unlike Performax which had a PAO basestock.
 
Looks like it is still being marketed in Japan. As 100% syn oil.

At one time they had Pennzoil with Pennzane. They used to advertise that it was developed for the space industry. Looks like the name Pennzane was registered about 1990.
