I read this, but not being a Tribologist it only makes me confused as to what is and what is not considered to be a synthetic oil?

I will continue to use synthetics, 5W40 Kendall GT1 Full Synthetic in my VW Passat, 5W20 PP in my Ford Flex, and PP 5W30 in my Maxima....but defer to what these brands state on the bottle as their classification )
