My AR in 7.62 x 39. I did not build this from the ground up. I did change the round checked handguard out for a quad rail. My son installed the alg defense trigger. Shown with the 30 round magazine. I plan to go with an eotech red dot scope.

JD Machine .308. Assembled 100% myself. I have many more in 5.56 and 7.62x39, including one in an A1 style wood stock. As soon as I find where I saved the pics I'll post them up.

Sure is. I think thats what I havein the back of my mind.
Also need to decide if I want 5.56 .308 or so,etching else. Choices, choices.
If you don't have a .308, I really recommend one (the DPMS G2 looks great for example) but requires a dedicated lower. If you've got a standard lower, you might consider a .300BLK which is all standard parts except for the barrel.

I plan on buying a bolt action 300BLK anyway... Probably this:

The .300 blk is a neat round. I would not say the the soviet round is a waste of time. It works for short range penetration and its cheaper to shoot. Cheaper to stock up for shtf.
It's my first build. It is a PSA complete upper, with the FN made CHF 1:7 16" barrel. The lower is an Anderson, and the stock is a Magpul MOE. Still waiting on my lower parts kit. And best part is, the total cost will be about $460.
Mostly Spikes parts, RRA NM 2-stage, Troy Alpha 15, Ergo grip, Griffin FlashComp, barrel is FNH CHF 16" made from the blanks used for M249 SAW barrels with the M249 spec chrome plating thickness.
