Petronas has been a big sponsor in F1 for years. Mobil sponsors McLaren Mercesds, now McLaren Honda.

From what I can find, Brawn GP, which was bought by Mercedes had Mobil lubrication. When The Mercedes F1 team was formed out of Brawn, Petronas was part of the sponsorship deal.
