Hi, this is my first post in this forum.
For errors in spelling sorry, I use the translate.google.

I have a car Renault Thalia (Symbol) 1.2 16v D4F with LPG 55KW, the car of the year 2006.
This year, the spring change the timing belt, water pump, control valve will be set and mention all the fluids.
At the beginning of the last two years I have used Castrol Magnatec 5W40 c3.
When I installed the installation of LPG, I changed the oil Total Quartz Energy 9000 5W40.
The engine operates on the oil far nicer, the price of oil is low in relation to the quality.
I'm thinking of changing to a different oil:
Elf Excellium NF 5W40
Elf Evolution SXR 5W40
Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40
On the Internet I read good reviews about the brand MIDLAND Synova SAE 5W-40 but never found information on TBN.
Mobil 1 New Life 0W-40 has good technical prarametry but the price is higher by 50% from Elf.
Which oil to choose?

Witamy!

Skoro na Totalu chodzi dobrze i cena jest OK, to po co chcesz zmieniac na cos innego?

Sorry, no idea regarding this Midland stuff, but if you like TQE 9000 and the price is good, then why change? If it ain't broke...

TQ kinetic viscosity is good, flash point 230, looking for oil with higher TBN.
The TQ is 8.8 TBN

Synova 5w-40 is a low SAPs oil (to protect DPF), so it will have a fairly low TBN as well. Your best bet is to contact the manufacturer and ask them what the TBN is.

With that said, starting TBN doesn't mean much. It's the TBN depletion rate that matters more. 8.8 is not bad.

inforobert, starting 22.december 2012 all ACEA A3/B4 certified oils entering the market must have TBN >=10mgKOH/g...
When dealing with online Technical data sheets pay attention to the revision date of the document and the approvals/specs of the time.

Also Total Quartz Energy 9000 5w-40 API SM/CF = Elf Evolution EXR 5w-40 API SM/CF = Elf Excellium Full-Tech SM/CF (same liquid in different bottles…it seems)...just like Mobil Synt S 5w-40(X1 3000) used to be identical to the now non-existent Esso Ultron 5w-40 in their corresponding ACEA and API specs through the years etc... you get the idea.

................

On TQ Energy 5w-40 – here are some TDS of different dates/specs:

API SN/CF ; ACEA A3/B4 ; MB 229.5 TBN 10 ! (dec.2012)

API SL/CF ; ACEA A3/B4 ; MB 229.3 TBN 10.1 (2007)
http://www.finalube.com/Product_Data_Files/Total_Product_Data_Files/quartz_energy_9000_5w40_pdf.pdf

API SM/CF ; ACEA A3/B4 ; MB 229.5 ….TBN however is 8.8 (05.2008)

API SM/CF ACEA A3/B4 MB 229.5 TBN 10 (02.2011)

Anyway,if you can't find newer batches of the oil , TBN of 8.8mgKOH/g is totally allright for a vehicle operating on LPG from what I've heard... I'd stick to Total.
