Sil-Glyde for rubber weather strips?

The sil-glyde you linked works great on seals, and as you can see the manufacturer recommends it for that. I have used it for years with great success. Napa sells it the cheapest I have found, and it also lets you dispense with other brake specialty compounds.

I think that would work fine. I've used dielectric grease, 3M silicone paste, and now I use the genuine honda shin etsu stuff.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, NAPA is the best source from a value standpoint (cost/quantity.)

Dielectric or just plain silicone grease seems the most harmless and most effective over a wide variety of rubber types.

The original Sil-Glyde claims to be good for EPDM & Nitrile (brake, modern heater hose and many o ring rubber) but what about sponge rubber types that many seals are made of?

Thanks for all the responses. It looks like the consensus is, it will work. Is Shin etsu better?

There's no NAPA store near me, so I can't really get the NAPA branded stuff, without paying for shipping.

No, no, no, anything but Armorall. Armorall actually has negative effects.
