Looking for Cayman owners, '08-'09. What is basic maintenance like? Is it no worse than any other German car? Anything ridiculous like having to drop the motor to change the oil?

Dear friend has one her and her husband couldn't stand the maintenance and repair cost for it . It was 2011 turbo wouldn't touch unless your going to swap it in two years.

The 2009 Cayman has the 9A1 engine which eliminated the IMS bearing. The '09-up Cayman S is the model that has always tempted me.

I guess it's safe to say the Non turbo version is less problematic than the S. $101 Wiper Blades? I'm sure they would cost that, at the dealer.

Not sure they did make a turbo Cayman, I was referring to the Boxster.

Looks like they do for 2014 at least.

There seems to be considerable confusion in this thread about what car we're supposed to be talking about. Let's make this simple.

- Porsche Cayman. C-A-Y-M-A-N.
- Model years 2008-2009.
- 2-seat mid-engined coupe.
- NOT convertible.
- NO turbo option.

If the car you're thinking of meets 100% of those criteria, you're talking about the right thing. Otherwise, you're not.

Are they still trying to get it started?

i kid.

OK, back on topic. So it sounds like the Cayman shares the drivetrain or at least the engine from a Boxster. Are they reliable? Any big problems like the older models with their IMS bearing failures?
