I salivate as I watch our American cousins snapping up awesome deals on quality oils!
What gives here in Canada with our retailers?
$1/QT, we'll never see it up here!
Any comments?
Fellow Canucks please chime in.

Walmart is the best. They sell the 4.4l jugs of pp for 19$. or other syns on sale. They also sell conventional vwb or pyb for 9$ those are the best deals usually. You just have to wait for a sale.

4.73 L PYB at Walmart for $13.95 everyday. CT has Mobil one for $28 a jug this week. Buy 3 jugs on Dec 26 and get a $15 gift card.

Last year Walmart had boxing day Conventional Valvoline for $9.95 a jug.

Why don't you look at the rebate threads? You need to go look for the deals, the oil wont fall into your lap!

Agreed. Wally has prices you can count on, and you do not have to be an OCD oil horder who winds up with a bunch of stuff for a car he doesn't own any longer.

Yup, I'm thinking Walmart and [censored] Tire are pretty much our only options. Sad..........

Few years back Walmart used to have nice deals for 4.5 or 5 Liter jugs at 8.99 or so. Valvoline etc. In house synthetic at 19.99.

A BITOG'r posted in a another thread "when will Motor Oil prices fall?" in regards to the huge slide in crude price. Very Good Question.

The 4.73 isn't regular stock.

I did find Rotella T 15W40 at UFA in Alberta for $21.50/5L jug
Cheapest anywhere buy far, just a heads up.

I've been buying Castrol Syntec 5L jugs( 5w30 and 0w40) this past year for around
$25 to $27 on sale. This is cheaper or on par with the U.S (5qt jugs) when you factor in the exchange rate and bridge toll ( for me). As far as $1/qt, yes you can get great deals on clearance or close out situations if your in the right place in the right time
in the States, but how often does that happen?

Last year Walmart's Canadian website listed Valvoline conventional and synthetic oil 4.73 litres on clearance for $5 ad $10 respectively. I went to 4 stores in my area where it was listed as in-stock but they didn't have any. I e-mailed Walmart informing them that their website was incorrect and I didn't like to have my time wasted. They refused to update their web site and continued to list the oil in-stock for three months. Never did get any. I really try to avoid that store.

That's interesting because at all three stores here, they have the occasional sale of 4.73L for under $14, then once the stock runs out, that's it until the next sale. 5L for $25 is always in stock.

I think most if not all people forget that Canada is still under the ownership and control of the British.

Perhaps if you secede from the socialist monarch the country can be as great as the one below it.

Really??.........interesting perception.

Hello, FYI: I feel the O.P.'s pain.
In No. New Jersey and the valleys which go north (Hudson and Champlain) there are NEVER any super sales.

Once in a while there'll be a 1/2 price table with discontinued oil at one store or another.
But the starting price is ridiculously high.

The "Oil Change Specials" never seem as special as once they did.

Go take a look at the English Volvo board "Volvoforums.org.uk" and see what our allies to the east are paying for their oil. Kira
