gummed up oil cap

Condensation from short trips in the cold, as oldhp said. How long ago did you change the oil?

I'd have a look after a long drive, about an hours worth of driving and see if it clears up. Cars driven in the cold for short hops sometimes have that problem. Especially when the oil fill cap is high up on the engine.

Here's my 1997 3.8...It's got varnish, and the cap being a cold, relatively quiescent place is where the gunk accumulates.

Yours just has some of the precursors still there, and a bit wet.

definatly condensation. Had it happen to my old chev pickup that my dad has now. I just make sure to let it warm up fully. change the oil and filter out and clean the oil cap.

+1...if it doesn't go away on a long trip then you may have a concern.

I'm a 2 mile commuter. I get that and it goes away when I go pick up my daughter in Chicago (350 miles each way)
