For those that care, the decision regarding 4 casino locations from the potential bidders list in NYS is scheduled for today at 2pm.

There appears to be a webcast of the meeting/announcement that will be able to be viewed at gaming.ny.gov.

I'm watching with bated breath. In my heart, the Catskill region is very well deserving of the financial windfall (but sure not the negative impact that will come). Selfish side of me hopes it remains quite!

The original statements were made by POS governor claiming it was to boost up the states most economically disadvantaged counties.....yet I betcha Orange County is going to get 1 of them. They are far from the economic disadvantages of Green and Ulster and Sullivan counties. For those that don't know, Orange county had a huge number of big box stores, including the mammoth Woodbury Commons (which is about to enlarge even more).

What it comes down to is Andy doesn't care about anything other than NYC and LI. And the more money that is in the Oneida's pockets, the less money he can send to NYC and LI.

I have always lived 40 minutes from Turning Stone. I hope it doesn't affect them too negatively. I don't gamble, but having jobs in the Utica/Rome area is nice. They are about the only employer left.

We get casino referendums up here and they always claim to be helping the worst counties as far as jobs go. So, if your county sucks, wait it out, and maybe a casino will appear in a generation or two?

Hmm... apparently to the contrary, 0 in Orange County, 1 license for each of the 3 areas (only 3 recommended, not the 4 that could have been).

#1 recommendation announced was in Thompson in Sullivan County... next 2 haven't been announced yet.
