Just found out about this addon; it uses a modified variant of the Easylist so it blocks the same amount of ads, but makes Firefox run faster. I love it; pages load a lot faster and it uses much less ram when multiple tabs are open. It also has malware/phishing blocking and has a larger list for tracking blocking that ghostery has. So it's an all in one adblocker, malware blocker, tracking blocker.

It says:

"Caution: This add-on has not been reviewed by Mozilla. Be careful when installing third-party software that might harm your computer."

Not sure I want to be a guinea pig...

My adblock plus does the same, what's new?

If these claims are really true, then that'd be a very welcome improvement.

I know; they just made the free addons for browsers; they've had a pay for premium software for a year that is very highly regarded and highly developed. It's a well know and respected product. Most people regard it as better than admuncher, which usually is the highest rated pay for ad blocking software.

Oh, I forgot another feature it has; it has website reputation from Web of Trust built in, so if you use that add on, you can delete it as well.

Adblock doesn't have nearly the capability for tracking blocking via easy privacy or the malware domains list. Plus, if you have all 3 of those lists, it slows browsing to a crawl.

I have all three lists, and I have never had an issue with slow browsing. I also love the disable social media buttons feature. I'm also not concerned to much about the malware domain blocking because I'm running Linux.

Would this be used in conjunction with ad blocker or instead of?
When I have multiple tabs open I do notice that firefox tends to run slow. Also, I routinely get an error that a script is causing the website to load slowly.

As its name states, Adguard AdBlocker is an ad blocker

so you use it instead of.

Yup, I did install it yesterday in hopes of speeding up FF. FF gets really sluggish after a while with multiple tabs open. I didn't realize it may have been AdBlock Plus that could have been causing this.

Will need a few days to determine if this new add-on is any better in that respect.

I have installed adguard adblocker and noticed firefox is definitely faster. Only problem is avast anti-virus. A quick scan identified this as a high threat and should be deleted.

Anyone else use avast and got this notice with adguard adblocker for firefox?

Be warned adguard does NOT prevent the downloading of ads, only hides them on the screen. It is not a good extension, IMO.
