Clean white letter tires

I know michelin and most tire company's recommed to use mild soap to clean tires. I have in the past used to harsh of stuff and it took to down to white wall behind the letters. So what do you guys think something like dawn?

Dawn is pretty harsh. It's what you use when you want to strip wax from your car's paint.

I'd just use normal car shampoo.

back in the day, some people used Simple Green to clean the white wall tires

Zip wax seems to work well. We used it where I use to in a spray bottle.

Dawn should be fine. I used to use Mean Green and a shoe brush to really shine up the white letters.

Ajax on a stiff bristle brush. Makes them nice and white.

Back in the day (70's) we gently used SOS pads. I wonder if the heavy duty Magic Erasers would be a good option. Wouldn't need to use a detergent that could dry out the rubber.

+1 That stuff is great. It makes the black parts look better too.

What ever you use to wash the vehicle and a stiff brush (potato brush) worked well for me for years.

Bleche white is awesome. Gets white walls and letters clean as they were when new. Cuts right through brake dust and road grime; great all around tire cleaner. And no I wasn't paid to write this, just awesome stuff

Yup that was good stuff. The newer stuff is ok though.

Car wash soap and Armor All when I had them. Always worked great. You can use tire dressing after you get them clean as well.

I've used commet on a stiff bristled brush with good results.

Back in the day I used SOS pads too. Worked like a charm. I've never used them on black rubber, but they're good on white.
