I'd say that those people represent the minority on BITOG. I think most folks here, demonstrated by the replies in this thread, place little value on any single additive when it comes to lubricant suitability. Many do recommend Rotella for small engines, but not necessarily due to it having or not having any one additive. It's recommended often because:

1) It's available everywhere for a reasonable price.
2) It's generally regarded as a very resilient oil that withstands severe duty.
3) It's available in both 10W-30 and 15W-40, both grades being very relevant to small engine service.

You're in Pennsylvania, where it doesn't get too terribly hot; if your engine calls for 10W-30, my oil of choice would be Rotella T5 10W-30.
