I have a two year old IPod touch 4th gen and am having issues with it. When plugging it in to charge, I get an error message on the screen stating "charging is not supported with this accessory". I have tried aftermarket and genuine Apple chargers and get the same result. No Apple stores nearby for support -- any ideas for a DIY fix?

Happen to me a while ago, check the bottom of the socket as lint builds up and prevents the connector from seating fully in its place, just clean the socket with a pick or with compressed air.

Cleaned out the charging port, still no go. It will charge to 20% from stone dead, then stops charging and sometimes gives the error message. Battery issue???
