I own a 1988 300sel (w126) Mercedes Benz and pretty much have settled on using NGK non resistor spark plugs.

Now the question is,

Do I use NGK BP5ES or NGK BP5EFS?

I read that one has the crush washer(BP5ES) and the other plug has no crush washer and is tapered for correct seating.

I also read that some just remove the crush washer and then such plug becomes a BP5EFS.

Do I have the correct information?

Is the correct gap .030 or .032 ?

Please advise

Isn't a TR5 a resistor plug? There is an "R" in the number

Yes, it is a resistor plug. What brand or part number is OE? Those old German cars used resistor spark plug wires so you def don't want to double resistor. lol

Yes- just saying that is what the parts look up calls for. What made you decide that you need a non resistor plug?

edit- I see above me lies the answer. What about replacing the wires with a modern equivalent?

NGK calls for wire set EUC041. Maybe replace the resistor wires so you can source readily available and correct for application plugs?

afaik-iirc OE fitment specifies only tapered seat plugs.

Family had W126 380, 420 and 560s a while back. Solid as a bank vault and ignored bad pavement like a destroyer crossing a sailboat's wake. Great cars!
