There is no reason to dump it; it will be fine.

If you intend to run a "normal" OCI, then just use it and never look back. This will be a waste of the lube, but you'd not be the first to do so.

If you intend to run an extended OCI, to get the value out of the lube, then by all means do so! Just make sure to run a UOA once you get past the OEM OCI, to gage the progress of the lube. Being such a wide spread, the VII pack will break down fairly quickly in the HEUI, but that does not mean wear will jump up. Keep an eye on things and just stay informed.

its in WI too. I saw it at AZ in Wausau. It's a short list of specs that it meets, I ruled out using it in the bikes because of no JASO MA

You're really better off with the 0W-40 with winter coming anyway. It should get flowing quicker when cold than the 5W-40. Might start a little easier on those below zero mornings too.

The 0w40 is better at startup pretty much year-round.

I wouldn't worry about it. When your oil was made, the guys at Shell considered the scorching hot summer days in Saskatchewan and Alberta when producing the stuff.

Besides, in gasoline engines, people have often replaced their OEM oil with 0w40 and had good results, why can't the same happen in diesels?

I am just picky when it comes to my truck. I rebuilt the engine myself other than the machine work. I have an attachment to my truck and as unhealthy as that may sound, working on it got me through a hard time in my life. After learning everything about the injection system on 7.3 PS I found that oil sheer is a concern on these engines. As much as I enjoyed pulling the engine and rebuilding it, I don't want to undertake that task anytime soon. Thanks again for all of the replies.

According to some users of the forum, the HEUI engine will shear an XXw40 into the XXw30 range, but no lower than that.

This is what I have consistently read about as well. You'll be more than fine. Maybe this was a meant-to-be kind of thing!

You, like a genius, lucked into an oil many here would like to be able to find.
Maybe this grade of T6 will come into wider distribution?

I have never seen it in the wild, I'm highly intrigued by this product. Even if the oil shears, the wear should still be good considering all the good ones I've seen on 10w30 HDEO. If it shears it will be a middle weight 0w30 maybe?
