I've been interested in trying this filter but I priced one the other day and the price was a little over $17 with tax. Is it worth the money? How does it compare to say a Fram Ultra or Amsoil EA filter? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Good filters, but you'd be paying way too much at $17. Especially with the Puro Snythetic, Ultra, M1, Bosch D+, Napa Platinum and even RP being cheaper alternatives.
They remind me of WIX made Napa Silver filters. Nothing to brag about efficiency wise, but they are built like tanks and get the job done. Gotta love the dark red paint job though.

Maybe the Hastings equivalent would be cheaper. Up here, Acklands sells Baldwin at a hugely inflated price versus the Hastings at Peavey Mart.
Price was at the local Hovis Auto Supply.
