You can continue to shake your cane at people walking on your "lawn" all you want, but times have changed, and so have people. I guess that's hard for some people to accept. As evidenced by the fact that her shows in both NYC and LA were sold out, and most of the attendees were adults.

You are 100% correct! It is hard to accept that people today are the dumbest in the history of human kind in so many ways.
No wonder they worked up of some theatrical event, Its hard to understand much of anything when your world revolves around video games and social media.
Throw a few lights and noise up and any tripe looks good to them. thats not the future its a mental illness. LOL

It's okay Trav...we'll just have to sit on our porch and yell at folks on our lawn.

No sense in expressing your opinion if you are over 35 years old. Everybody knows that as we age, we become irrelevant in todays culture.

Going to fake "concerts" and watching cartoon characters on a stage is the norm for men these days. How "old-fashioned" of ANY of us to think any differently. Better to characterize us as antiquated, useless, bigots.

LoL...agreed....to a point. It does get to be silly to constantly ponder what oil or viscosity is "best" for whatever vehicle. The scientific analysis behind the scenes and various formulations can be a bit interesting though.

I tend to stay away from most oil discussions anymore on this site. Too many opinions based on nothing. Besides....how much can you really go over and over the subject at hand and still be of any value?
That's why I mostly frequent the Off Topic section. A bit more variety and interest.

When you like to insult everything you don't like, and insult everyone who likes those things, some people might get a little irritated. You don't seem me bashing things other people like to do/watch (typically, anyway).

Long gone are the days when men were men and pansy was the name of a flower. LOL
I don't throw stones as things i don't understand but if you see someone trying to sit on a pointed fence post you should say something, its only right. On the other hand...

I dunno dude, I'm still on my way to 35 and my pastimes entail shooting computer parts with various rifles, wrenching on my cars and listening to FFDP, Metallica, Rammstein, Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Sarah Evans, Garth Brooks, some old G n'R....etc.

My wife, who is very similar in age to me likes a lot of pop (that I can't stand), some rap (which I also can't stand) and some country (which I can tolerate and some of which I actually like) and I'm actively working on getting her into shooting. She can't spin a wrench to save her life but she has other redeeming qualities
grin.gif

Actually, I personally don't know anybody that goes to digital concerts or shares the music tastes of the OP. Probably like those that were fans of Disco weren't found in circles of those banging their head to early AC/DC or the Rolling Stones.

I don't think that "digital performances" like these are the wave of the future (to disagree with the OP). I think they are a niche fad like laser light shows and the music is popular in the same manner that Disco was, and to some extent, still is. There are people that enjoy it (we obviously aren't among them) and, like with Japanese cartoon tentacle porn, there is a market for it. Doesn't mean it will ever become mainstream (which I highly doubt), but it will persist.

And no Nick, I'm not equating your music taste to tentacle hentai, LOL! Just noting that they are both niches seen as "weird" by more "square" people

Heh, you didn't have to qualify it, but I see your point.

Basically what it comes down to, is I have a lot of interests that don't really line up with your typical BITOGer. There are a couple of people on here who are exceptions to that of course.

Sometimes it's interesting to see the reactions of people here in regards to these things, but sometimes I wonder why I bother, when the insults start flying.

Nick,

Were you the one going to join the Navy ?

I decided that was a path I didn't want to go down for multiple reasons. In the end, I now have a job I'm extremely happy with, doing something I want to do.

I'm the same way , spend much more time here in the general topics nowadays.

There is only so many times you can answer the same questions over and over and over again. Automotive general, off topic, photos, computers/electronics and vehicles are the only forums I frequent anymore.

Nick....I don't insult EVERYTHING I don't like.
Just a select few that I see as bizarre.
Like what you want....but to expect others to accept your tastes as even remotely common? Nope.
And I will make comments and express my opinions on the matter....just as you do.

Its certainly interesting but its not really my cup of tea either.

IMHO its a good way for a studio to make a buck without having to pay for a real band/idol. Idols also seem popular in Japan.

This seems like a good cost affective way to get some more money out of some titles that sell well, lets say Naruto the 800 pound gorilla. You can have all your favorite characters doing something on stage without having to pay for actors.

Since most modern reality TV stars/idols/pop singers are manufactured to sell products I don't see a big difference here.

As this technology improves and gets cheaper I can see a big market for it.

The plot of the b movie idiocracy, may be slowly becoming reality. Your article Shannow, indicates this.

To each his own. If you enjoy it great. At least the band is real. The psychology of cheering inanimate / holographic images, is interesting to me.

Everyone has tastes someone else would consider bizarre. 99.9% of the people here could tell the difference between Delvac 1 LE 5w-30 and SuperTech 5w-30 and would be able to glean something useful from the specs on the bottles. 99.9% of the motoring public, however, would call us nuts for even thinking there was a real difference.
