This is a Napa Gold 7899 that was installed on my 2013 Challenger R/T 5.7L Hemi on 3/31/2014. It was run for 4678 miles.

Oops! Typo! Fixed it. Cutting open filters is kind of fun, though messy.

Looks great, and the oil looks pretty clean still after 5K miles.

It looks to me that your filter could have gone another 2000 miles. IMO, filters by many are underused, and filter better as the miles increase. I would go to at least 6500 miles next time.

I changed the oil and filter early so that I could do it while it's still warm out.

Its interesting how these all cross reference.

I thought this would take the same filter as my Jeep so I investigated.. It spec's the shown NG 57899 and Fram PH2. The PH2 is equal to the MC 820s and blacked canned WIX 51372. I only know this because these are the spec'd filters for my fathers truck.

Either way, looks good!

Same as the 5/1372 this is one of the rare Wix/Napa Gold application using dome bypass. From what I've found it's the equivalent to the Mopar MO-899.

However unlike Fram which uses the PH2 as equivalent to 'both' the MC FL820S and the MO-899 and a bypass setting of 12psi, Wix specs two separate applications.

For Wix, the MC FL820S crosses to the previously noted 51372 with a bypass of 22psi. Otoh, the OP's 7899 crosses to the MO-899 and has a listed bypass of 16psi.

Like the FL820S the MO-899 also uses thread end bypass in the oem. I've wondered if there is some kind of patent issue why Wix/(NG) dome end bypass in these applications rather than the majority thread end Wix bypass.

This one looks good, and thinking from a clean engine.
