This is the oil change after my break-in oil change at 1800 miles. I have a short commute (5mi) but also take occasional long trips. I drive pretty easy most of the time and I think the oil analysis shows that. I'm so happy there is no significant fuel dilution and the TBN will absolutely take the MGMO to 7500 miles. Here is Blackstone's analysis

"DOMINIC: Copper and silicon are reading high in this first sample from your Mazda, but these readings are normal for a new engine such as this. In fact, we would've been more surprised if they hadn't been there. New engines produce excess copper (from brass/bronze parts), along with other wear metals, and silicon is from harmless sealers. A lot of this washed out in your first oil change, and things should improve more next time. Averages are based on ~6,100 miles of oil use, but your strong TBN of 4.4 says you can go longer. Try 7,500 miles and check back. Nice!"

It's no lighter than the Mobil 1 AFE 0W-20, and it's well within grade. Re: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/3499298/gonew/1/2013_Mazda_3_SkyActiv,_M1_AFE_#UNREAD

I think a lighter oil is good for this engine considering the high compression ratio and possibility for hot spots and detonation. More oil flow cools the pistons better and is easier to pump, overall allowing me to see 39mpg on the highway!

Here's a VOA for comparison.

and the current J300

That's awfully close.

I was going off Blackstone's report showing 6.0 to 9.7 as normal cSt.

The latest J300 is here from 2013: http://standards.sae.org/j300_201304/

"The minimum KV100 of the SAE 20 grade is increased from 5.6 mm2/s to 6.9 mm2/s"

All prior J300's showed a much lower cSt value for "in grade" - so this is a fairly recent change.
