I've got the Husky liners in my '13 Outback, and I'm fairly satisfied with them. I've never owned a set of Weathertech, so I can't speak as to those. But I will say that the Subaru OEM All Weather floor liners do have a couple advantages over the Husky liners. Here is my observations.
The Subaru mats are by far the most attractive. But they offer the least coverage. However, one real advantage to the Subaru mats is the very deep channels. This allows for drainage of water and melted snow down in the bottom of these channels, keeping it away from your shoes and pant legs. I didn't realize how important thaw was until I installed the Husky liners.
The Husky mats offer fantastic coverage - somewhat. While they cover the largest area, and are made to be an exact fit, they do not exactly lay where they are supposed to. At least mine don't. The outside rim tends to lean inboard, away from the carpet. Thus, a lot of dirt falls down in the space between the carpet and the liner. This really irritates me, and it looks trashy. I've thought of taking a heat gun to my Husky liners and see if I can form them better. But I don't want to ruin them.
I don't like how thin the Husky mats are. I'm not quite sure how, but my wife pushes the passenger mat forward. This makes the mat bend in the corners. Because the mat is so thin, I'm worried that it will tear eventually in this corner.
The other thing I don't like about the Husky mats is that they do a very poor job of channeling water and melted snow away from your feet and pant legs. Let me correct myself. To say that they do a poor job of channeling water away would imply that they at least do it a little bit. They don't do it at all. The result is, in the winter the end of my pant legs sit in the water, and it wicks up my pants. When the water drys out, the bottom of my pant legs are crusted with salt. Argh! I hate this.
Oh, and did I mention that the Husky liners are just plain ugly? Husky only offers floor mats for the Outback in the Weatherbeater series. If the Forester you are buying is a '14 or '15, then Weatherbeater is all that Husky offers for it. If it is older, all they offer is their most basic Classic series. Husky has a nicer series called X-Act Contour. They have deeper channels to handle the water, and aren't ugly like the Weaterhbeater and Classic mats. In fact they look quite nice. Not as nice as the Subaru liners, but nice.
But Husky doesn't offer the X-Act Contour for the Forester, or the Outback. Argh!!!
Judging from pictures, I don't think the Weathertech Digital Fit liners cover as well as the Husky mats. If they did, I would order a set today and sell my Husky liners.
So pick your poison. There is no perfect floor liner set for the Forester. At least that I know of. You have to decide which is most important to you, and compromise on others.
