And people blamed GM like it was a 3rd world country company. Looks pretty clear with all the recent recalls and hard fines that company's are finally "discovering" all theses problems.

That's because GM is interested in making profits instead of making a great product. Remember they put a man on the moon, so they said, and this was before computers. Can't even make a Cadillac where the bumper doesn't fall off....

That's because GM is interested in making profits instead of making a great product. Remember they put a man on the moon, so they said, and this was before computers. Can't even make a Cadillac where the bumper doesn't fall off....
With GM it appears that recalls are just entries in the expense ledger, a cost of doing business. It's almost like you can hear a GM exec say, it's not my fault, I wasn't there, I had no prior knowledge and something will be done because I won't stand for this.

So far...lets not forget the Explorer/Firestone deal in the early 2000's. Back then everyone was condemning Ford and swearing not to buy another one...just like we had with Toyota a couple years ago.

OK, first off that was not "before computers" lol. Computers were heavily used in the design of the spacecraft and the launch vehicles, as well as for controlling both once in flight. Integrated circuits too, and transistors. Are you 12 or did you sleep through history?
Considering you believed that it was "before computers" I can see why you might make the second, even more ridiculous statement.
Oh, and just so you know, GM (Delco) was a prime contractor for the Apollo guidance and navigation system. Which included...a computer.

It is not surprising that Ford is being proactive and acting rather than stalling on these issues. It is a near certainty there will be more.
What is surprising is the implication that GM is somehow 'evil' and does not like us. Does anyone really believe that?

Fords have always had problems deciding what gear they want to be in.
I recall more than one late 60s-70s Ford deciding it liked reverse over park. I saw one, left unattended for 30 seconds, almost backup through the front of a house 200 feet away. They never remedied the problem to my knowledge. Nothing against Ford, though. GM hasn't been any better.
With the biggest makers like Ford and GM, we're not valued customers, we're statistics. The bean counters in these places won the war by the early 1960s.
Still, I like our latest Chevy truck so far. It stays in gear.

It appears that most all of the "car people" in executive management are gone. I'm surprised that today the Corvette even exists let alone happens to be a very good car. It must have slipped thru the system while the CEO of GM was doing something important.
