Best way to cut open an oil filter??

The Summitt tool does not work well for very small filters. I had to resell mine.

Will a coping saw work?

i used a coping saw (the guy at meijer suggested it and it was on sale for only 4 dollars) so I bought it and it worked! but it was a LOT of effort and work and took a long time, but it was able to do it. is using a coping saw a more "difficult" and labor intensive way/ are there other, easier ways to cut open an oil filter?
