Automotive Confession

In high school one Saturday night I picked up my pals in my Dad's new 1982 Ford Fairmont and we drove around town smoking cigars (and maybe a little drinking) with the windows down.

The next morning I drove that car to church with our whole family in it and sweated the whole time as I saw through the rear view mirror cigars rolling around on the back dash.

Nobody noticed anything strange but me.

I've had a Ralt RT-40 sitting under a cover in the corner of my shop for the last four or five years, allegedly because it needs a suspension refresh that I "never get around to."

The reality is that the last time I sat in it I realized that, with age, I've gotten too heavy for the seat insert and I just can't bring myself to make another one.

Haha that`s AWESOME!!!!

I confess that I have totally given up giving a [censored] about what the body of my scion looks like. In the almost 2 yrs I've had it, someone has opened their door into the pass. Side of it putting a big ding in the rear door, my wife and kids have opened the passenger side doors into countless curbs and snow/ice banks, I scratched the rear bumper cover loading my chainsaw, one of my lawn mowers rolled and scratched the pass. Side front fender, I've hit so many chunks of ice this winter, and the final straw was this past week. I was checking my oil when I noticed a small dent next to the driver side headlight, the paint had chipped and its already beginning to get some surface rust. I've owned two daily driver jeeps in the past that I used to off road frequently and never had this much bad luck with body damage. That's it, I'm done, I no longer care. My nerves and anxiety feel much better already:) I think I'm just going to eventually plasti cote it flat black and rat rod it:)

I'm not into cars, and I hate driving.

That's not my confession.

When I start making six figures, I'll put serious thought into getting an FR-S or a Challenger. If they are still around when that day comes...

I confess that this is my first post after about a year of lurking.

I want to blow my retirement savings on an STi. I won't, but I want to after buying my first Subaru this past year.

About once a month, a local dealer has some offer to win a new car. I take the chance every time. It really disappoints the salesman when I reveal that I am strongly in love with my car, and have zero plans for trading it in for many years.

I once won $5, and then I spent it at the nearby Chinese restaurant.

I'm dragging this thread back up top...

I confess I've been looking at purchasing a Prius C.

I have some things going on right now and, if they pan out, a Prius C could save me a bunch of money, even compared to a Yaris.

If you asked me a year ago if I'd ever buy a Prius anything, I'd have laughed in your face.

A Prius?

I think the minivan is the most practical and suitable alternative for people who need more then a Mid size family sedan, or a fun sports car for the weekend/commuting.

....you'll call me a soccer mom..........
Until you need to move or go to the airport

I wish I was born in my dads era when muscle cars were a dime a dozen (all my cars were 4 cylinder)

I wish I never sold my Prelude

I wish my garage was like Jay Leno's

That's awesome!

Back in the very early '80's I first moved out on my own (19 years old) into a tiny apartment, I had an upstairs neighbor that was the most irritating person on the planet. He often parked his fixed up Ford Ranchero so close to my old beater ('70 Ford Custom) that I had difficulty getting into my car. At night....EVERY NIGHT...the guy would be "servicing" his girlfriend upstairs directly above my bedroom. They made more noise than a construction site. I swear the guy was a human jackhammer. Lasted for at least an hour. He would play his music as loud as possible as well. I had an early morning job at the time and had to wake up very early but this guy made it next to impossible to get any sleep. I used a broom handle and pounded on my ceiling a few times to let him know that I could hear every single bed spring. He would pound back with something on his floor and continue his activity without a care.
Anyway, I attempted to speak to him but he threatened to crush me like a small insect (I think the guy was a steroid-inflated bodybuilder).
I was left with no recourse. The apartment manager didn't care either and insisted I call the police if it's a noise issue.
I dealt with it for months until my lease was up.
Here is my CONFESSION........on my move-out day and just after returning the keys to the apartment manger, I went to the hardware store and bought the most powerful paint remover I could find. Was told it would strip the paint off a battleship.
That night I did my shameful deed.
The next morning I would have liked to see the face of the "jackhammer" when he saw the paint peeling off his Ranchero hood.

No...not proud of what I did....but there you have it!

I love our new Sienna. More interior space than a Suburban but it rides nicer, is easier to park, and gets much better mileage. Stuffed it with four kids and three adults for a trip to Guitar Center.

Once a month I test drive a new 4x4 to replace my old zuk...knowing I have zero intention of buying something which sacraficed performance for comfort.

I never let myself enter a lexus dealership...because I would not leave without an is350...or ls460l depending upon the time of year.

Also, I take pleasure in passing jeeps on the interstate.

I have poured trans fluid into motors to flush them....of water.

Actually, I know quite a bit about them and their real and supposed repair and maintenance issues. As it turns out, one of the few-but truly exceptional-SM specialists lives @1 hour away from my house.
So I would actually consider one.
After I find the body double of the E24 M6 I stupidly sold in 1995...
