Got a 3/8ths drive Craftsman butterfly impact from a Sear's store closing sale.

It is rated at 95 ft lbs of torque. Is it okay to use it with regular sockets without damaging sockets?

Will wobble extensions/adapters hold up to the impact of the tool?

Will 95 ft/lbs be too much for 1/4" drive sockets?

Check eBay for surplus impact socket sets.

Here is a brand new 3/8 American made impact socket set, made for Kobalt by JH Williams, the same company that makes Snap On sockets. Only $24 delivered, which is an ABSOLUTE steal in today's market for quality American made sockets. The identical socket set sold under the JH Williams name will set you back over $100. This identical socket set sold under the Snap On name will set you back over $200.

When chrome sockets crack and bell out,the chrome flakes off and can get embedded in your finger.

For quite a few years I had a 3/8 drive butterfly impact, and when it finally gave out, I bought a cheap 1/2 impact. Mostly I just use regular sockets. Over the years (40+ years) I have cracked a couple, but not enough to worry me. Of course I have to say that most stuff I work on does not use the full potential of the wrench, as I do Lawn mower repair. AND, my compressor only has 125 PSI.

Most air tools don't like much over 90 psi at the inlet anyway. A few guns claims up to 120 but but recommend 90 for longer tool life.
