Im looking into having my trucks hood painted. Right now its a mismatched color hood. The truck in question is a 96 F150, Far from being a show truck by any means. Just trying to get it out of the eyesore category.

I called up Macco and they quoted me $375! Again, Im not looking for a Ferrari paint job here, but something better than rattle can rustoleum would be nice. Does that price not sound a tad bit high?

Mm!on fast and loud they scotchbrited green padded the hood then covered the wood and washed it then coated it with clear!an easy diy job

Unless you know someone with spray painting equipment you're gonna have to bite the bullet at a shop, and that probably the cheap single stage paint they use.

Hit up a junkyard? Or on CL and see if someone is parting out the same color truck? Could post a WTB ad on CL too.

Maaco's low line paint job is Nason FulCryl acrylic enamel. No clear coat. Its probably $20 a pint for the color, then you need reducer and activator.Less than $100 would buy the paint. Then all you need is the right equipment to shoot it,and the talented person to apply it..

375.00 for Maaco paint on hood is a stretch, find a local owned bodyshop and check their price. Let them know you will be paying and it isn't an insurance job and you should find a lower price. you are going to be above 200.00 but probably a lot better job.

Or you can put cover up on it!the stuff is like shrink wrap but pretty much any look you want.you just need a hair dryer to smooth it over

+1
On newer vehicles, using the correct factory paint in the right steps, the cost of materials alone can be as high as $375!

Around me, my daughter was quoted $250.00 per body panel for paint. So on her Grand Am, it was a front fender and the two driver's side doors totaling $750.00 to paint/clear. It was that much also to put on one used door and a fender after she hit the deer. So painting was 1/2 the total price to repair her car. I would imagine a good shop should be around a $250-300 bill just to spray with no bodywork. I've done the rustoleum thing twice on hoods and the quality of a professional job would be worth it for me.

When I painted a hood and radiator support myself using Sherwin Williams automotive paint, all the paint stuff (hardener, color coat, clear coat, etc.) was alone around $300. And that was with a discount through the company I worked for at the time.

Things get pricy in a hurry when you start folding in labor.

I'm not sure of the price of painting an OEM hood. Many years ago, when I was an oil and tire tech, I shut the hood of a Toyota Matrix before I remembered to remove the hood rod. The hood couldn't be saved and had to be replaced.

1 new hood and 1 paint job cost the business $1000. If I knew the price of the hood, I would be able to determine the price of painting it.

A genuine Toyota hood is about $300 retail, but an aftermarket replacement hood is under $140.

You can't get a hood sprayed for anywhere close to $250, even using the cheapest of cheap paint. $250 per BODY panel is about right (fender, door, or bumper cover), but, if you would have asked the body shop about painting the hood, that quote would have been 2-3 times more because that is how much more in materials and labor are involved in doing a hood. It is the second most expensive body panel to paint (next to the roof).

Well....I've had several cars repainted, whole or in part, at one shop over the past 10 years and they have given me a quote of $500 to repaint my hood and roof...and they do good work....

They definitely got a 100% genuine Toyota hood.
