Looks like Shell and Pennzoil have pulled the plug on the Fuel Rewards Network program...

Just returned from my local Wal-Mart, and they were replacing all the caps on Pennzoil and Quaker State oil jugs and quarts...

All codes under the caps were being entered as invalid.
Stickers removed, promo materials taken down...

Also if one had been redeemed, because the code came from a unsold bottle / jug, the ENTIRE associated FRN account was being locked.

Sucks a few bad ones ruined it for everyone.

They try to make it simple and people abuse it.
Too bad.

My last try with the Pennzoil/FRN was last year and they shorted me $0.40/gallon and after that I did not want to mess with that.

I still use my FRN account.
I actually have a FRN Mastercard that gives me $0.05/gallon (or more) for every $100 I spend. Better deal than the

I can say that this may be true. I know that for the STL region all the Jiffy Lubes that were inside Walmarts (29 stores) are being removed and a "Walmart Auto Care Center" will be put in, to replace Jiffy Lube. I found out that JL was loosing 2.5 Million dollars per month to keep the space inside WM.

How do I know this you ask? Well I worked for walmart in automotive before it turned into a jiffy lube. When JL made the contract with WM, I switched over and worked for JL for about 1.8 yrs. JL ended the contract early, and thus now I will be going back to WM to take my job back as an automotive technician. I am one of the lucky techs that get to keep their job, however other coworkers of mine are less fortunate. I found out all of this yesterday, so its very fresh news.

Forgive me, being up here in Canada, I don't understand how the program works. How would Shell know if a code came from an unsold jug or oil or a sold jug of oil? Given that the number would be hidden, how would Shell know if Walmart sold it or if it were stolen, or simply a pilfered code? And what about retail locations with till programs far less sophisticated than something like Walmart's?

Or, is there something on the jug the retailer would have to keep and phone in or register online upon completing the sale?

They may have pulled it from the oil rebates but the program is still active.

Codes are under the caps.

Caps were being replaced, with new ones that have no codes.

Codes under old caps were being entered into a laptop, to void out the codes.

If someone had taken off the cap and swiped the code, the computer would tell if the code had been redeemed.

If the retailer still has the cap and code, why are some of the codes listed in someones account as being purchased and redeemed?

What a joke. If they are making retailers pull caps, replace them, then enter a code in the system to void them, this is a complete cluster....! So everyone who now buys containers of PP and PU are now going to get bottles that have been opened?

The codes everyone has that have yet to enter better be accepted. It's the only reason a lot of us even bought it.
