Was helping a friend remove the auto trans in his 1991 Pathfinder. 1991 3.0 V6 Auto transmission, 4x4.
It took us about 5 hours to get the transmission free from the engine - 2.5 to remove the flex plate bolts (apparently there's a removable cover).
So - then we ran into the problem of the corssmembers. It looks like either the differential or the torsion bar crossmember has to come out.
One of the bolts for the torsion bars is strpped - so taking that out is not really an option.
Is there *ANY* way to get the transmission and transfer case out of this, without breaking them apart or removing crossmembers?
Thanks!
