I have a buddy that owns an auto performance shop in the Tamiami area of South Fl. I passed by to say hello to everyone since i've been out of the tunning scene for quite some time. In the shop, they were 'upgrading' a Genesis Coupe 2.0T with the valve cover removed to add performance cams etc. This is a 2010 with 113,000 miles on the odo running Royal Purple (API) 5w30 for every single mile since the factory fill was replaced, OC every 5K miles. This was the absolutely cleanest engine i have ever seen, bar none. The shop owner agreed, it looked brand new. No varnish, hence no sludge in the nooks and crannies. Makes me wonder, why all the indifference towards RP? Price maybe?

Just wanted to share my observations. Sorry, i didnt think of taking pics (not that i know how to load them on this forum anyway, Lol).

No surprise there. Modern API oils do an excellent job at keeping motors clean, and Royal Purple is no exception.

Yup,I'm not surprised

I know alot of people, besides myself who use it,both on the street & at the track, never a problem.
The only people that I've seen "complain" are a small group of people found here on BITOG,and of those few, they haven't even used it so it's laughable.

Same thing would happen if he had used QSUD around $20 every 5k about half the price too. Royal Purple API approved oils aren't special. The racing oils with synerlec are very special.

If I could buy a 5.1 quart jug of Royal Purple API for under $30 at Walmart I would use it. I'd rather have the PU Pure Plus for around $27-28

Nope, it's a GDi, same as Sonata and Santa Fe Sport.

No. Wrong. The 2010 Genesis 2.0T was not GDI, and is still not a GDI version of the Theta-II.
Only the 2013 and up 3.8 Lambda V6 Genesis Coupes have GDI.

Never seen a clean engine before?
We saw them even back in the 'eighties.
All it took back then were 3K drains on any oil.
5K drains on today's oils probably have the same effect.
Nothing magical about any current API RP, or any other API spec oil.

You are correct, my error. Not GDI. Artificialist was right too. MPI engine.

Oh, I've seen plenty, just not that clean. Not meaning that something else couldn't.

Well that tells me RP is good for at least 5000 miles in keeping an engine clean. Interesting.

As I said, any API oil can easily do this. Tons of guys here (and millions of other vehicles) have been using bulk 5w30 for a long time without issues.

So true. These days almost any name brand and quite a few generics fit the bill nicely, especially when used at such short intervals. I see nuttin' special here at all...

Ok, ok everyone... nothing to see here. Lets keep it moving....
