Just installed a set of Cooper CS5 tires on a customers 2012 Jetta yesterday, 205/55-16H.
Looks to a huge improvement in quality. Bead surface was very smooth, with no flaps of rubber hanging off all the mold lines around the tire. Very little run-out, and very little weight correction needed. Asymmetrical tread design, with a better looking all around profile over the CS4. Only got to drive them 3 miles, but they felt great. I think he paid $88 ea. from Tread depot.

They where the Ultra touring, and I did not look at what country they where manufactured in.

Thanks.

Will be looking for a set of 205-55/16 for 2006 Volvo V70 soon, probably before next winter rain.

I personally don't like uni-directional tire, especially for low performance vehicle.

These can be rotated to any position.

These are asymmetric, but non-directional. They can be used in any position. The only requirement these tires have is that the "outside" sidewall should be mounted to the outside of the vehicle. Otherwise, they can be rotated in any direction.

Yes, these do look nice.

In addition to that - US is experiencing a high amount of inflation. Our dollar is worthless.

What? The US inflation rate has been very low for the past few years. It's only recently where it's started to pick up.

Cooper should've given them different CS numbers.

The CS5 Grand Touring (T-rated) is more like a standard touring tire

The CS5 Ultra Touring (H/V/W) is completely different as well.

Maybe the latter should've been called CS6 or something.

$70 rebate right now on the CS5. I'm holding out for a possible 7/4 Discount Tire Direct sale. If I can get a sale price + rebate, I think I may try a set of these.

That's my thinking too. My GF's CR-V could use a new set of 4 even though the current ones still have some tread left. If there's a great deal, why not?

I just purchased a set of Cooper CS5 Grand Touring the other day for the Corolla after dismal results with the Michelin Defender. What a garbage tire IMO. There is one tire shop that wont' sell them anymore due to the amounts of complaints on the treadwear shortcomings. Out of all the tires I have put on the Corolla they have had the. worst. treadlife...even worse than the OEM Firestone Affinity which place nearly last on the tire Rack Survey results for that tire segment. It's not like I am driving any harder or on a different route or that my alignment is out that is abusing them either. They were rotated diligently just like all other tires I use. I was really hoping that they were the trick....alas no more higher priced brands for me as the return on investment was a flub.

I hope that the CS5 excels the performance of the CS4's I have previously run. I can see a set going on the LeSabre this fall.
