Yamaha outdrive water pump

Need to replace at least the impeller on a '96 Yamaha T50TLRU 50hp outdrive. Have found yammy and aftermarket part numbers. Has anybody used a brand from Sierra Marine? Worth the cost savings over OEM?

Also, not sure whether I need to replace the housing itself or not. Looks pretty good but there is some possible deformation of splines or channels in the passage the driveshaft runs through- never seen one before this so I don't know what it should look like it.

Post some pics and we can have a better idea. I've replaced my share of impellers, on both I/O's and outboards.

I have used a lot of Sierra Marine parts over the years. Always found them to be good quality, never had an issue with them. Use Sierra with confidence.

Does the houseing have a stainless steel liner

You would have to check your particular application. If it had a stainless liner from the factory, the Sierra part probably does also.
