Fram HM2 cut open

Came off employees truck...2005 f150 5.4 3v...engine runs good but is noisy up front especially during start-up..typical 5.4 3v (chains,tensioners,guides and phasers) that hasnt been religiously taken care of as far as oil/filters...this filter has approx 6500 miles..conventional 5w30...got some soft grit in it......

Surprised nobody has bashed the mystery goo of the HM yet. But I'd use that over a torn filter any day...

I'm actually not worried about the goo, they have proven it works in their heavy duty OTR rigs filters with real fleet testing.

They have put over 2 million miles of testing in these filters including UOAs that were double interval (40,000 miles) without changing anything except adding the TRT filters which use the same additives.

Other than the "goo" these are the same as the orange can. This 6,500 mile OCI confirms there is some "fudge" room in Fram's mileage warranties as you would expect, as the orange can is rated for 5k OCI's max.

The filter looks great.

IIRC, the box on these are stickered shut like the Ultras so I have never been able to take a look. Very surprised to see a nitrile ADBV rather than silicone.
