Ok,
I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 2WD. I have upgraded to newer GMC 20s vs the stock 16"s. I know I need an alignment, but I plan to lower the rear 2" with shackles to level the truck.

If I go ahead and get a front end alignment and lower the rear in a few months, will this possibly throw the front back off ?

The answer is yes it will affect it, particularly caster.

How much depends on the actual suspension geometry...

My guess is the affect will be minimal - but it is just that a guess albeit one by an sold alignment guy...

It likely won't affect it enough to cause it to be out if it's set to the middle of the range, because the allowable ranges are usually VERY generous. But if you know that you're going to be changing the suspension, you might as well wait and have the alignment checked after the work is done.

I've had trucks steer funny with just weight in the bed. Save the alignment for after the work's done.

what size diameter are the new tires..

if the overall diameter is nearly the same.. It shouldn't be off
