Mystery electrical connector

Just bought a used 2004 Grand Prix GT. Changed the air filter and saw this connector was unplugged. The problem is I can't find anywhere it would plug into. Any help or knowledge would be appreciated. The car seems to be running fine.

I remember a phantom connector as well, couldn't figure out where it went.

See if you have power at it with a multimeter set to DC Volts.

It's weird. It must be there for something..
Checked out my 2002 Grand Prix it also has a connector unplugged, same area.

Do you have one of those on the other side of the engine bay also?

Where does the left side (SW side, other end) terminate?

Does yours have a Transmission temp? Mine is hooked up. That is the only thing I can think it can be. I suppose it could be for the Tap shift as well.

I have an 04 GTP Comp G.

The trans temp is a possibility. I'll check that out tomorrow.
The connection should be visible though right? Unless it's down under the trans dipstick.

It would display in the dash on the message center if you had it. Scroll through it.

I agree. The engine compartment needs a good detailing.
Just bought it today. It's near the top of the list.

Awesome. It is transmission related in mine. TCS, Temp or Tap shift would be my guess.

On that subject. Would Gunk degreaser be a good choice?

I used simple green, scrubbed lightly and sprayed lightly on my last dirty engine.

I went out an looked real close. Does your car have Magnasteer?

I don't think the Normal GTs do.

My plug, after crawling under it, goes directly to the steering rack.

Apparently it was only available on the COMP G
