Special forces have been using open vehicles for ages now. Specifically, open and fast "dune runners". Nothing wrong with a special operations vehicle that is open and easy to get in and out of.

I like the comments about pre-made vehicles like the g-wagon. This thing turns 24feet circles but doesn't have the tiny tires of a london cab that does it in 25. It carrys it's own weight in cargo. It also can be lifted by an osprey.

Lots of potential for a great military vehicle.

Do we, the US, need this or should we buy them? Well... that's to be debated. We could spend money better in other places - but if they can get people to use smaller and more efficient vehicles in the military instead of the MRAPs and Hummers, it could save money in the long run...

I wonder who makes small reasonable priced light weight military vehicles that have a tight turning circle, can operate in deep water, and are nice and narrow for street and getting between trees? Oh plus something with an endless amount of configurations and has the ability to be up armored for IED and small arms protection?
