Can you link to a w20 spec'd ecoboost? They have all been w30 that I have ever seen.

The Spanish-built 2.0 EcoBoost specs 5w/30. The other EcoBoost engines specify 5w/20. This has been the case since they were introduced.

F150 and Taurus have always spec'd 5W30.

The 2.0L Ecoboost in the escape calls for 5W30.

Cobb is making parts for (mostly) domestic sport compacts now?!?

Agreed, but, if they were really listening, they would have brought over an AWD version (and yes, I know they would have to make one for Europe/England FIRST in order to do that

A coupe/hatch RS500, AWD version would be

Haha, you know it! Like I said, it's rare that I like red cars that aren't exotics but this thing just screams.

Is there no way to bring this info up through the on-board computer in the center dash? The Mustang I rented last year had that option.

I wish. It doesn't seem to be integrated with standard ford info-center.

Oh and these pics were shot with a Galaxy S5 in full auto mode with no adjustments for anyone who's interested.

They made stuff for the WRX and Evo, which are in the WRC, so I figured that since there is a focus variant in the WRC, it all made sense.

Though, since the Ford is FWD, I don't call it a rally car.

I was wrong about the F150, but in 2009 Taurus SHO it called for 5w-20

The 2011 Explorer with 2.0 EB did as well

I wonder how hard it would be to attach a PDU to the transmission and throw in a rear driveshaft, differential and axle shafts from an Escape ...

This is where I might have to take an issue. What is the track record for 12-15 year hand me down Fords? At least today, it is not as it would be for a Honda/Toyota.

e

No one knows yet. Ford produces much better quality vehicles today than they did 12-15 years ago.

Except for MFT. People just can't seem to figure out how to operate a touch screen radio yet.

I think this is irrelevant in OP's case as he changes cars every couple of years. Chances are this Focus will be long gone before his daughter is ready to drive.

BTW, my first car was an 8-year-old Escort. It was an utter POS, alas, Ford's quality has improved since the mid 80s. But the cars have also become a lot more complex. Then you have the added factor of a high-strung turbo/DI engine in this particular ST. Time will tell, I suppose.

EDIT: Looking at the reliability ratings on MSN, Focus looks really good going back as far as MY2000. But the TrueDelta reliability stats for Focus ST look alarming.

Setting aside possible long term prospects and weight, this car hits many targets very nicely.
jigen, you and your sweetheart have good taste!

My 11 year old Focus is doing just fine, burns no oil, is dirt cheap and easy to DIY and it has half the mileage of an equivalent, for the price Honda or Toyota.
On the other hand I see plenty of oil stained driveways and hear clunking sounds in the morning where older Hondas and Toyotas are parked. See I can generalize as well..

And considering this is my girlfriend's car, I don't see my little one getting it no matter how reliable it is.

I read up on forums, the 2013 ST's seem to have a fair share of quirks. Nothing too severe, but I wouldn't say this car was without its problems. Seems like a lot has been addressed, and the car certainly feels very very well built but it has a lot of tech going on, especially with the electronics and automated stuff...

Needless to say, once the 3yr warranty expires, I would push for her to get an extended warranty.

Even the regular Focuses suffer from bad motor mounts. They used the same motor mounts as the "regular" focus on the ST

Fixed it for you.

Unless you've seen it in their catalog, or online, I would be very surprised if they made one for the Foci/Fiestas, but then Mishimoto has made silicone radiator/cooling system hose kits for the Stangs for MANY years now, and they even make them for MY car now.

So anything is possible.

BTW; there is/was a FWD 'junior' 1600 class in the WRC, it's just NOT for boosted cars, NA ONLY.
