Plastic gas filters

Here is a plastic gas filter that has a little more than 1000 miles on it. Leaking from many cracks. It shattered when taking it off. Pieces then cracked off like peeling an egg.

This Is why in race cars they don't allow plastic or glass fuel filters.You crash,it ruptures,you die.

Looks more to me like a substandard polymer that was not formulated to tolerate whatever fuel ran through it.

It was located under the car, far from any heat source other than road heat.

To me, It also looks like a material quality issue, Try a different supplier, I know UD (Nissan Diesel) makes filters just like that.

I replaced it with a steel one from Donaldson

i can spell "made in china" i see way to many car builds that use way to much hose fore fuel line under the hood. if i was the race car inspector, lots of them would go home before racing.

its just a small qc problem, buy another one, then later buy another one, a great business plan.

My mother's 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a plastic fuel filter, and her car has over 150,000 miles on it.

I say the problem is that a cheap grade of plastic was used.
