Several months ago, I did an oil change for a friends 2000 Firebird with the v6.
We used Mobil Super 5000 10w30 and a Wix 51036 (longer version).
The car went 5700 miles. Used 1 quart of oil at 2100 miles.. Essentialy, the engine's much happier.
The dosing of MMO and frequent filter only changes cleaned up the sludge and so far everythings good to go!
This current oil change now has PYB 10w30 and a 51036 filter.
We're gonna run 6000 miles on it and see what happens.
I wish I took pics of the oil filter I cut open, but it was very clean, little to no excessive dirt. Looked easily like another 5000 miles would've been fine.
I'm now relying on the PYB's superior cleaning ability to further clean this motor up.
There's no more sludge buildup that I could see from the oil filler hole.
But it's still dirty.. so hopefully the PYB will clean this up even more. And at 2000 miles I'll swap the oil filter out and see what's been caught!
