Ok so I topped off my vehicle with a quart of Valvoline NexGen that I got on sale. I figured since it promotes itself as being as good as regular oil, it would last as long, but it didn't. My truck (207K) goesm through a quart about every 1500 miles, but with this stuff id didn't go even 800 miles.

Any idea why? Could topping off with different brands than what I do my oil change with affect the rate at which it consumes oil? Or is it just the this NexGen oil isn't up to par?

we shall see as far as the durability goes, I have a sample of 5w30 nextgen conv sent in, that was run for 9 mos, some where in the 6-8k mi range, in my buddy's beater of a Pontiac Vibe

Durability has nothing to do with consumption.

You could put the best HDEO available in the sump ... if your rings are shot ... it's going to consume the oil.

I always use an oil with poor NOACK on my burner - NOT!

Seriously, the car may just be taking a turn for the worse.

Forget the ILSAC lubes and Run the magic combo of rotella T3 10w30 conventional and 1 qt Formula Shell 5w30 - if you can find it.
