Funny we have more than a few GM vehicles in fleet use and have run Dex in them all the way to half a million miles with absolutely no issues. Even our newest vans have an open overflow tank. Only our Silverados have a pressurized one.

My family has owned at least three GMs with Dex-Cool and all were fine. I use OEM coolant exclusively, whether that's Dex-Cool in a GM, HOAT in a Chrysler, Honda blue in our current cars, etc.

Not sure how it was an 80s thing since it didn't go into GMs until 1996.
