What's the catch on lifetime alignments?

I have had satisfactory results over the past twenty years using NTB (National Tire & Battery, formerly NTW). I might go for the lifetime alignment on my current car when I do the first one. I have found, generally, that cars purchased new rarely need alignments until they are at 100,000+ miles and the suspension bushings begin to wear noticeably.

Personally, and this is me, if the car steers and tracks well and is not wearing tires out prematurely I do not do alignments.
