They make different grades, lite, standard, and heavy. I've found that the heavy stuff is really thick, a little too thick. All the gun greases in my arsenal perform the same and I can't really tell the difference between any of them. Regular wheel bearing grease would work just as good.

With that being said, the only handguns I like to use grease on are Sig's and 1911's. I would be more inclined to use a good gun oil on a HK. They have tight tolerances.

I've never heard anything bad about Slide Glide.

However, for "normal" conditions, wheel bearing grease or even white lithium grease should work fine if you want to use grease. Something fancy like Mobil 1 grease should also work. There is little need for a dedicated gun grease when there are plenty of other cheaper greases that are easier to find.

I replied in another thread that Frog lube semi-solid is a very good performer in my SR40C. For something with a higher load, such as the hammer spring in a GP-100, I use a ceramic reinforced brake grease. Remember, a little dab'll do ya!
